Meghan Trainor brushes off online hate with fun new single 'Still Don't Care'
The singer also announced her new album and a massive summer tour.
“You could tear me apart, but I sleep well at night.”
Meghan Trainor is giving her fans everything and then some. The singer went all out on Wednesday (Nov. 12) to kick start her next era, giving fans a brand-new single, announcing her new album, and even revealing dates for a massive North American tour.
She has been dealing with a lot of hate online recently after undergoing a health journey that helped her lose over 60 pounds. Despite being something positive, social media - which I agree with Lady Gaga who once said was the toilet of the internet - wasted no time leaving nasty comments on Meghan’s photos.
“People started commenting about my body, saying I’m too thin, and that they don’t recognize me anymore,” she tells People magazine. “So, I was confused and sad and was like, ‘Oh, it’s almost worse now.’ I don’t know what happened.”
That inspired the lead single from her upcoming album. “Still Don’t Care” is vintage Meghan Trainor: an inescapably catchy, bubble-gum pop song that you can dance to with self-affirming lyrics that can only empower you.
“I liked the idea of... ‘Let me think about it one more time. Nope, I still don’t care.’ And I know that when I start singing it, it’ll be my therapy, my exposure therapy,” she also told People.
The concept of her seventh studio album Toy With Me, out April 24, 2026, starts making more sense after learning about how “Still Don’t Care” came to be. She shared the album cover today too, which appropriately portrays herself as a toy trapped inside a box.
Meghan tells the Associated Press that the album will “have a few self-love bops, songs to excise her anger through and lots of familial love.” The latter includes a song she wrote to her kids, Riley and Barry, which she says is the only slow song on the album.
I’ve never seen Meghan live, but I will make it my mission to go next summer. She is heading on a 30-city North American tour with Icona Pop and her brother Ryan Trainor. General sale for tickets begins Friday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. local time.
And that’s not all. Meghan is also ready for the holidays. She will release a holiday single called “Buying Gifts For Me” on Nov. 21 too.
